Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whisky Acquired by Diageo

by Ernie Ayres on June 21, 2012

How did I miss this one? Earlier this month, Diageo, the multi-national uber-beast of the alcohol industry acquired Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey. I reviewed Cabin Fever back in December, 2011 and thought it was great! Read the review here.

The Robillard family seems to be top-notch and they worked hard to release a very high quality product. With all acquisitions, one has to wonder if the quality and flavor will remain the same. Guinness, after merging with Grand-Metropolitan to form Diageo in 1997,  went through growing pains that, as far as I can tell, they never corrected. The stout doesn’t taste the same since the bigger facility was built. The Robillards will still be involved with the brand but has the potential to change quickly. Hopefully, they will have more control than other brands folding into Diageo.

Regardless, everyone I know that has tried Cabin Fever Maple Whiskey absolutely loves it! I hope the Robillards make out like bandits and are able to keep control of the whisky at the same time. Best wishes all  around!

And yes, I will be stocking up on Cabin Fever now…just in case.
