Welcome to the 19th edition of the Whiskey Wednesday Roundtable. This week we have a review of an interesting new expression from the Balvenie and a tasty treat or two.

1. Whiskey Wednesday Review:
Finishing Whisky in barrel that was previously used for port or some other wine is becoming more popular. The Balvenie has kicked it up a notch by using ex Rum barrels. Innis and Gunn has perfected this with their beer but I would love to try out the Balvenie’s Carribean Cask!

2. This Week’s News Story:
Despite laying off workers recently, Diageo is still growing…especially in Asia.

3. Whiskey product of the week:
Whisky Advocate Magazine (previously called Malt Advocate) is one of the top information sources for new brands, new expressions, personnel changes, and just about any other information you could want about the whisk(e)y industry. We highly recommend a subscription.

4. Recipe of the week:
Whiskey And Maple Glazed Double Cut Pork Chop With Apple Pear Chutney could possibly be the longest name to the most delicious pork chop you will ever have!
via CTVNews

5. Random coolness:
It’s a dining table that can seat 8 people. Wait, no…it’s a desk that can hold papers and other office supplies. Nope. It’s a street door. Wait a second. Was this designed by MacGyver?!
